History: Since its inception in 1923, JLC has raised and awarded millions of dollars to meet local needs in areas ranging from education to child abuse to feeding the homeless. In the past decade alone, the League has trained 2,500 community service volunteers.
Funding: Every year, the League invests in the community through League-sponsored collaborative projects that provide financial support and volunteers.
Community Projects: The Junior League of Charleston annually selects a variety of community projects, committing financial support and volunteer hours in collaboration with other local nonprofit organizations, to combat hunger and homlessness in our area.
Project Outcome Measurement Statement
Community Assistance Grants: The Junior League of Charleston has discontinued awards of Community Action Grants (CAG's). All community funds will instead be used to support collaborative Community Projects, which provide both financial support and volunteers.
Community Support at Large: In addition to providing financial support and volunteer hours, the Junior League is committed to serving as a catalyst for positive change in the community through the training of volunteers in community service, governance and fiscal responsibility. The League is a resource for counsel on non-profit strategies and for organizations interested in adding trained leaders to their boards of directors.
