Whale of a Sale - Charleston's Largest Garage Sale
On Saturday, December 15th, 2012, the Junior League of Charleston, Inc., will host the 38th Annual Whale of a Sale, Charleston’s largest garage sale and the League’s signature fundraiser. Due to the Gaillard’s renovation, the new location is the Omar Shrine Temple at Patriots Point Mt. Pleasant. The 8 am to 1 pm event is open to the public with free admission.
The Whale of a Sale will showcase a wide variety of new and gently-used items donated from local homes and businesses: furniture, appliances, clothes, computer equipment, electronics, books, toys and holiday decorations, all sold at bargain prices. The Whale has even boasted such memorable items as a Viking range and refrigerator, fine crystal, sterling silver, cars, boats, and high-end designer clothing and accessories. This year’s December date will make it a great time to shop for last minute holiday gifts!
Event proceeds fund the Junior League of Charleston, Inc.’s, mission to promote volunteerism, develop the potential of women, and to fight hunger and homelessness in our community. The Junior League raises more than $100,000 annually to further this mission. The organization combines trained volunteers with the money it puts into the community for double impact. Last year, Junior League members invested more than 2,100 volunteer hours valued at $45,000.
Donations of new or gently used, quality merchandise for the Whale of a Sale will be accepted through November 28, 2012. To make a donation or become a sponsor, please call (843)763-5284 or email whale@jlcharleston.org.
