Thank you for your interest in the Junior League of Charleston!

The Junior League of Charleston, Inc., (JLC) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

The JLC was founded in 1923. Today it is a diverse group of dedicated women working to make a positive impact on the greater Charleston area by fighting hunger and homelessness. As a nonprofit, its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The JLC reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism and leadership.

The JLC has more than 1,000 Provisional, Active and Sustaining members. Our membership includes business owners, working mothers, young professionals and stay-at-home moms from diverse backgrounds. All are committed volunteers from the tri-county area.

The JLC is part of a larger organization: the Association of Junior Leagues International. AJLI includes almost 300 Junior Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, England and Europe consisting of approximately 200,000 women, all striving for positive change in their communities.
